Growing and caring for rose-scented geranium

Rose geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) is a shrub native to some countries in South Africa. Geranium, known as pelargonium in our country, is a plant belonging to the same family (Pelargoniums). Although it is actually called a geranium, although it is related to the geraniums we know, it is a different species from them. The leaves of the plant have a pleasant smell, similar to the smell of roses. I purchased the seedling of this beautiful flower from one of the sales sites I came across on the internet. Since we are now in the autumn season, it has not bloomed, but its leaves are said to have a pleasant scent, even if it is not blooming. The leaves of the plant are also used in the food and cosmetics industry because they contain aromatic oils. The plant is not frost resistant. If the temperature drops below 0° degrees, it should be taken to a protected environment and protected from frost.

Rose scented geranium
The rose-scented geranium plant is very easy to care for. It is suitable to be grown in sunny and semi-shade environments. It grows well in fertile and well-drained soils. The plant blooms in spring and summer. It is recommended to fertilize the plant every 2 weeks and get a lot of sun for more blooming. Collecting wilted flowers will improve flower quality. Its flowers have an odor similar to the scent of roses. Next summer, I would like to shoot a detailed video about this flower and share it with you. I didn't need to shoot a video as it hasn't bloomed yet. Rose geraniums are also very easy to propagate. It is possible to propagate the plant by planting the branch cuttings you will get from the growing branches into the soil. You can water it as the soil begins to dry. You should keep the soil moist and know that over-watering causes its leaves to wilt and dry out. The plant is suitable for growing in pots and outdoors in temperate climates.
Rose geraniums are not seasonal flowers, they are perennial plants. It can live for a long time as long as it is well cared for. It will be good to keep the plant in the temperature range of 13 to 21°. Higher temperatures can stress the plant. If it is to be viewed indoors in winter, it would be nice to position it in a south-facing and sunny spot. Pruning is recommended if the branches grow too long when grown indoors.

You can try to grow this flower by purchasing it from the internet. I think it will add a different aroma and image to your home.
